Mark is a retired Royal Navy senior officer, qualified helicopter pilot, trained lawyer and part of the Access Aviation Team.
He is a very experienced senior manager, helicopter pilot and a recognised specialist in Flight Safety and Human Factors education. In addition, he is an experienced accident investigation supervisor and exponent of safety management and aviation auditing and assurance. Mark is a skilled and knowledgeable supervisor of aviation resources, encompassing operational and administrative planning. He is also an experienced practitioner of change management and has been involved in challenges for personal and career development.
His career currently encompasses being Chief Executive Officer to the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers and Coach Harness Makers.
Mark has also managed an internationally respected Air Accident Investigation Centre and Flight Safety education facility investigating military aircraft accidents around the world. He has also provided Flight Safety and Human Factors education and advice to 5000 personnel annually. As a Senior Human Resources Manager he has implemented long-term strategic plans for personnel requirements to populate the operator element of the Royal Navy’s 6000 strong Fleet Air Arm.
As an aviation safety manager he has supervised and developed the RN Naval Aviation Safety Management System and led a 7-strong senior management team tasked to establish and develop the UK MoD’s first joint Defence Aviation Safety Centre. He has also managed four flight simulators and 17 personnel to train Lynx helicopter aircrew in basic and operational flying skills as well as emergency procedures. Mark has also been responsible for the audited use of aircraft in ships and shore establishments to maintain a safe and integrated employment of aviation resources.
