General Aviation Consultant
Jonathan is the Director and Chief Flying Instructor for Oysterair Limited (founded in 2013) and currently an airline pilot with a large UK carrier. He has significant experience in both the areas of General Aviation and Commercial flying. Oysterair is the UK’s only Approved Training Organisation authorised by the CAA to conduct single engine turbine class ratings on both the SOCATA TBM and PA46 single engine turbine aircraft. Oysterair is authorised by the UK CAA as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO).
Jonathan is an ATO Course Development Pilot with responsibility for writing ATO and Air Operators Certificate (AOC) initial and recurrent course documents.
Jonathan is the technical editor for Pooley’s Air Pilot’s Manual Book 5 ‘Radio Navigation and Instrument Flying’ and ‘EASA Operational Procedures’. He is also the author of ‘A Guide to the EASA CPL Flight Test’, ‘A Guide to the EASA IR Flight Test’ and ‘Operational Procedures’ published by Pooley’s Flight Equipment Ltd.
He is the technical consultant to PFIS Ltd, an advisor to Air Pilot Publishing Ltd and an aviation lecturer at CFS Ltd where he speaks at instructor and examiner refresher seminars.
With over 9200 hours total flying hours, Jonathan has logged some 3000 hours as pilot in command which includes 1700 hours of instructional flying. Jonathan joined his present airline in November 2005 and is currently a Senior First Officer and has flown the B757/B767/B737NG as well as the A320.
